Our Top Picks of the Brighton Festival 2018

Posted on Posted in Uncategorized

This week the new Brighton Festival programme landed on our doormat.  As always this is an exciting time for Brightonians young and old so we though we would share our top picks and family favourites with you

Top Pick Number 1

Nofit State Circus – Lexicon @Hove Lawns.  Page 8 of the programme

This looks amazing!  Nofit State Circus have been going for over 30 years and offer a contemporary take on the circus experience.  You can see snippets from the show here

Top Pick Number 2

A Weekend Without Walls @ Easthill Park and The I360.  Page 59 of the programme

We love the free stuff at the festival and this looks like its going to incorporate dance, storytelling and soundscapes in an outdoor adventure land.  There’s lots to do for young and old alike so we will definitely be taking a picnic down and exploring everything they have to offer.  See the past programme for Weekend Without Walls here

 Top Pick Number 3

Slot Machine Theatre – The Boy, the Piano and the Beach @Brighthelm Centre.  Page 12 of the programme

Suitable for 6+ this is the tale of a boy on the beach.  It has a live piano score, puppetry, dance and projection.  They also have a relaxed performance on 6th May.  see a promo of their previous show One Snowy Night here

Top Pick Number 4

The Children’s Parade and Free Shows in New Road

We all love the Children’s Parade, whether our children are in it or not we always love the atmosphere that kicks off the festival each year.  Make sure you also check out New Road over the festival as performers showcase their shows and you always see something interesting from flamenco dancing and massive community choirs, to Goth Morris Dancers and out of control puppets! Watch a lovely video of last year’s parade here
